Our story

Here at Blooming Garden Flowers, we love to provide an experience. Our founder, Montshona (Mo) Ihekweazu, studied luxury retail and experience in Paris under the former CEO of Armani France while in business school, so she knows the importance of making things special and one-of-a-kind. She keeps that in mind whenever she creates one of her handcrafted floral arrangements, transporting her clients to a beautiful blooming garden each and every time.

Mo started Booming Garden Flowers out of a love of flowers, and wanting to bring people joy. Born and raised in San Francisco, Mo grew up surrounded by nature and flowers. She spent many days after school walking through winding paths in Golden Gate Park, where the scent from giant eucalyptus trees wafted through the air, and bountiful roses bloomed brightly in the nearby rose garden. In fact, each Blooming Garden flower arrangement has a base of eucalyptus and light pink or white roses as an ode to the giant trees and blooming flowers that accompanied Mo on so many of her walks as a child.

Mo’s diverse breadth of career experience has helped shaped her path to starting her own business. With an MBA from Duke University and a BA in International Studies and minor in Spanish from Emory University, Mo has held leadership roles in startups, human capital consulting, healthcare, and energy. In fact, it was while working at a Big 4 management consulting firm for several years that she discovered a passion and talent for leading workshops, and thus lead numerous creative client workshops around the country as a certified facilitator. She breathes much of that workshop experience into her lively floral arrangement classes and team building workshops.

While there were some aspects of her work life that she enjoyed, Mo never felt truly fulfilled in her career. So in 2020 when she lost her father to cancer and needed to stay home with her young children during the pandemic, she decided it was time to get back to her roots and do something she truly loved.

After designing many floral arrangements and hosting several events one summer, Mo realized that her passion and keen eye for design and flowers was more than just a hobby - it was something she could do as a career. She brings her many worldly experiences, having lived in cities such as San Francisco, New York, Buenos Aires, of course, Paris, into her new blooming business.

Nowadays, her home is filled with flowers and joy as she feverishly curates and delivers one-of-a-kind flowers and experiences to folks all over Houston, TX, where she lives with her wonderful husband and two young daughters.
